COUNCIL MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
Building back better from the pandemic will depend on how all stakeholders invest and define their responsibilities to people, planet and prosperity beyond the status quo. This moment has resurfaced the need for multistakeholder commitments to a just transition, ensuring that the substantial benefits of a green transition are shared widely and more equitably. Current transitions in energy, agriculture, heavy industries and transportation must do more to fully consider climate-affected communities and emerging economies as evidenced by international calls to address the acceleration of the climate crisis and its impact around the world. For stakeholders to move forward on a just transition, we need to know how we drive towards and finance a green and equitable transition that benefits climate-affected communities and emerging economies.
The Global Future Council on Social Cohesion and Just Transition will explore how business, government and civil society can work together to fulfil the promise of a just transition in pursuit of a more socially cohesive and equitable world.
